It’s very easy to get discouraged and quit in life. But I am a big believer that quitters never win and winners never quit. That may be a cliché, but it’s no less a powerful truth. Today we find ourselves in the midst of the most devastating housing market in recent memory … right? Whether we are or not, is an issue we can’t affect. Let’s focus on what we can affect. What will you do? How will your attitude and leadership affect those around you? Have you already thrown in the towel? It’s easy to be philosophically positive when the going is good. But what about when the going is not so good … like now perhaps? May I be so bold as to suggest that your attitude truly plays a larger role than you may see. Yeah, yeah positive thinking won’t pay the bills. But positive beliefs and therefore, positive actions just may. Much of the negativity we see is largely the result of the nation responding to something they heard on CNN or some other nightly news. They heard, they believed and they reacted. In a recent Q&A session with Wharton School students; Warren Buffett said this: “I mean, you don’t want a capital system that functions perfectly if you’re in my business. People continue to do foolish things no matter what the regulations and they always will.” Simply put, downturns always create opportunity for someone. In this issue of the Builder Bulletin, I want to aim a little positive encouragement your way. Hope it helps. Brian Flook, MIRM Quote of the Month
