10 Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Marketing

by Krista Scarlett, Communications Specialist at Power Marketing

The days are longer, the first blooms have emerged, and bees and other critters are showing their tiny faces after a long winter. No season represents growth or renewal quite like spring. Motivated by the change in seasons to start anew, we scan our closets, bedrooms, offices and garages in search of anything that can be cleaned, reorganized or pitched altogether. But, what about our marketing strategies?

If your current marketing efforts aren’t working quite as well as you’d like, consider dusting off your old initiatives and starting over fresh. Enhance your brand strategy, invigorate your business and find new prospective customers with these marketing spring-cleaning tips.

1. Polish Your Company Website
Look at any page on your website for 5 seconds, then look away. What do you remember? What products or services were featured? If you can’t remember your own message, then your customers won’t either. Consider re-evaluating the messages you’re sending with clearer, more concise and action-driven copy. Make sure your headers are well targeted and succinct. (Our in-house copywriting & editing staff are experts at this!) Continue reading

Client Testimonial: Advantage Homes

“I wanted to send out a special Thank You to our friends at Power Marketing for the leadership role they played in yesterday’s successful Realtor Luncheon at our Brunswick Crossing community. The luncheon was an RSVP event, and we had 50 of the 53 RSVPs attend! Attendees included agents, brokers and office managers from various offices from Frederick, Washington and Montgomery counties.

We had a very interactive experience with the attendees who asked many questions and provided valuable feedback as they toured our townhome, traditional and neo-traditional model homes. The event culminated with a prize drawing in The Asbury model home with 90% of the attendees present.

The team at Power Marketing did the majority of the preparation for this event, which included email invitations, the online RSVP page, announcements on our website and Facebook page, as well as coordinating Beans in the Belfry restaurant as the caterer.

Congratulations and Thank You to everyone on the Power Marketing team for an outstanding event that we hope will bring us many sales from our friends in the realtor community.”

—Jim McCormack, Advantage Homes VP of Sales & Marketing

Remember these two eBlasts we created for new homes builder Advantage Homes? Just two weeks in and we’re seeing stellar results! Just to recap: this twice-monthly eBlast series is part of a builder marketing campaign targeting households in Germantown, Md., Gaithersburg, Md., and Frederick and Loudon counties. One eBlast encourages prospective homebuyers to stop wasting money on rent and start investing in an Advantage townhome at Brunswick Crossing. The other focuses on the relaxing, resort lifestyle that Brunswick Crossing offers buyers of Advantage’s single-family homes. Continue reading

Brunswick Crossing eBlast for Single-Family Homes

Brunswick Crossing is an award-winning, planned community in Frederick County. The community is relatively young, but you wouldn’t guess that by looking at it. We could talk for hours about the community’s appeal — it’s a short distance from Frederick and Washington, D.C., has the kind of curb appeal that other communities in the area lack, plus there are a ton of amenities already in use (walking trails, tennis courts, community concerts, a new clubhouse under construction and much more).

Our long-time client and Brunswick Crossing builder Advantage Homes came to us seeking a builder marketing campaign to drive traffic to their single-family homes and townhomes in Brunswick Crossing and, ultimately, increase their sales. One piece of the overall campaign we proposed was an eBlast series targeting households throughout Germantown, Md., Gaithersburg, Md., and Frederick and Loudon counties.  Continue reading

Featured Project: Maryland International Film Festival

power marketing, brand strategy, graphic design md

The second annual Maryland International Film Festival (MDIFF) is just a month away, so our brand strategy team put together this unique flyer to celebrate the event and encourage the public to attend. Power Marketing is a proud sponsor of the festival, which encourages independent filmmakers to engage audiences, collaborate and network with other filmmakers, and educate the community about their films. Communications Specialist Krista Scarlett wrote the copy announcing the schedule, pricing and sponsors, and Lead Designer Amanda Linthicum created the graphic design md.

If you’ll be in the Hagerstown area April 11-13, then consider attending the MDIFF. A number of local, national and international filmmakers will showcase their films and participate in Q&As. Visitors will get the chance to watch these films, talk to the filmmakers and support independent artists whose passions come to life on the big screen.

The festival’s headliner, author and former American CIA operative Tony Mendez, will be there to screen the Oscar-winning film “Argo,” directed by and starring Ben Affleck. The film is based on the true story of Mendez’ rescue of six U.S. diplomats during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. To learn more about the festival or the films and filmmakers featured, visit www.marylandiff.com. We hope to see you there!

Tell us what you think: Does this flyer make you want to attend the MDIFF?

Featured Project: Advantage Homes

Our long-time client, Advantage Homes, wanted an updated Maryland website design that was easy to update and manage, cleaner and used newer technology. The new website we designed offers improved navigation, functionality and sharing options.

With the end user experience in mind, we created a real estate website design that makes finding the perfect home much easier. The site now features a Floor Plan Search where users can browse Advantage’s homes by features like location, price range, number of rooms and more. Similar to the search options on sites like homes.com, this helps narrow down the search to homes that are feasible and affordable.

With the View Specifications section in each community, users can browse and select specific features and design center options to build their décor, color scheme and finishing touches. From exteriors, lighting and flooring options, to plumbing, countertops, appliances and more, this section features photos and product descriptions that inspire homebuyers to create a beautiful design style that is uniquely their own.

The View Area Amenities tab allows users to scope out nearby schools, restaurants, stores and more located near an Advantage community. The View Site Plan tab features a detailed map of each lot’s location within a community. Advantage Homes can easily and frequently update lot availability. Users can check the status here and view a specific lot’s proximity to community amenities including parks, pools, walking trails and scenic views.

Social media plugins are now featured in each community section. Homebuyers can easily share a model with friends and family via Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

IBS Recap

Last week, Power Marketing President Brian Flook and Creative Director Jon King attended the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas. The week was jam packed with more than 900 exhibitors and over 100 education sessions on everything from home builder marketing and real estate branding to green building and more. Here are a few of our highlights from NAHB’s annual show and expo.

During the weeklong events, Brian wrapped up his chairmanship of the IRM and passed the torch to Meredith Oliver. Here he is (top right) during his last meeting as IRM chair.

Brian was honored to present the Trina Ripley award to his good friend Ross Robbins, as well as the Friend of the Institute award to Carol Ruiz.

On the last day of the show, Brian presented “Marketing Solutions for Guaranteed Sales Results” with Myers Barnes and Mike Lyon. A packed house took part in this valuable session on online builder marketing methods for 2013. Of course, our fearless Power Marketing leader couldn’t help snapping a few pictures of the audience during the seminar!

The boys also had a chance to catch up with many of our builder marketing clients, including Jim McCormack (second from left) and Jerry Grable (far right) of Advantage Homes.
